Leith Central Community Council needs you!

The purpose of Community Councils is to express local opinion to the local authority and other public bodies operating in their area. They have a statutory right to be consulted on planning and licensing issues but Community Councils were designed NOT to be party political and their boundaries, as the case in Leith, approximately align with the new multi-member council wards to represent geographically distinct communities.

Elections are held every three years. You must live in your Community Council area to be an elected member. Additional members are nominated by the local authority from local voluntary groups and organisations. Senior school students and people with local knowledge can be co-opted. Your MP/MSPs, Councillors, the Community Police Officer attend as well as the public.

By attending your Community Council we can truly be the voice of the community in Leith.

Leith Central Community Council will meet on the following evenings at McDonald Road Library at 7.30pm:

Mon, June 21, August 16, September 13, October 18, November 15, December 13.
